Colt starting/Starting under saddle

Starting a horse under saddle is all about patience, feel, and earning trust. I begin on the ground, getting the horse soft, respectful, and comfortable. Once they’re ready, I ease them into carrying a saddle and then a rider. nothing is rushed every horse learns at their own pace. this foundation sets them up to be steady, reliable partners for the trail, the ranch, or wherever their journey takes them.

Halter braking

Halter braking is where the foundation starts. I teach young or unhandled horses to be caught, haltered, and led with respect and softness. They learn to yield, tie, and handle. every step is done in a way that the horse can gain confidence and learn the right way from the start.

Conditioning

Conditioning a horse focuses on building fitness, strength, and stamina through a structured training plan. this includes developing muscle tone, improving cardiovascular health, and preparing the horse both physically and mentally for consistent work. Every conditioning program is tailored to the horses age, current fitness level, and goals, ensuring steady progress without overworking them.

Seasoning

Seasoning a horse is where they get their miles. I put them in different situations like trails, open country, water crossings, and new obstacles so they learn to stay steady and handle whatever comes their way. This is the kind of real-world experience that turns a green horse into a dependable partner.

Groundwork and Behavioral training

Groundwork and behavioral training focuses on teaching the horse respect, softness, and understanding from the ground. this includes leading, yielding to pressure, desensitization, and building healthy responses to everyday situations. My goal is to create a safe, responsive, and willing horse by addressing unwanted behaviors and replacing them with correct, confident ones.

Tune up

A Tune-up is for the horse that just needs a little polishing. maybe they’ve had some time off or picked up some bad habits nothing big, just enough to get in the way. I go back to the basics, get them soft and respectful again, and make sure they’re riding honest and consistent.
